What REALLY Happens on Your Wedding Day

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at What It’s Actually Like 👀

If you’re planning your wedding, you’ve probably spent hours scrolling through Instagram, saving photos, and looking at photographers’ websites.

And I get it, everything looks beautiful.

But here’s something I wish more couples knew:

👉 What you see in a portfolio is only a tiny part of the story.

Because what really matters…
is what happens on your wedding day.

📸 My Job Isn’t Just Taking Photos

A lot of people think I show up, take pictures, and leave.

But in reality, I’m doing so much more than that.

I’m:

  • Guiding you when you feel unsure
  • Keeping things moving on schedule
  • Helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera
  • Managing people, energy, and emotions

Because your photos don’t just come from how things look
they come from how you feel in the moment.

👰‍♀️ The Morning: Setting the Tone for Your Entire Day

When I walk into your getting-ready space, I’m not just looking for pretty details.

I’m paying attention to:

  • The energy in the room
  • The little in-between moments
  • The nerves, the excitement, the laughter

Yes, I’ll photograph your dress, your shoes, your invitations…

But I’m also watching for:

  • The way your friends hype you up
  • The quiet moments when it all starts to feel real
  • The interactions you’ll want to remember later

And here’s the thing: you don’t need to “pose” for any of this.

Just be there. I’ll take care of the rest.

😅 “I’m Awkward in Photos” — I Hear This All the Time

Almost every couple tells me this.

And honestly? That’s completely normal.

That’s why I don’t just stand there and expect you to know what to do.

I’ll guide you, but in a way that feels natural.

Instead of stiff posing, I might say:

  • “Walk toward me like you’re on a date”
  • “Pull them in closer”
  • “Whisper something that makes them laugh”

I’m constantly adjusting little things:

  • Your hands
  • Your posture
  • Where the light hits you

But I do it in a way that doesn’t interrupt the moment.

So instead of feeling posed…
you feel like yourselves.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Photos: Where Experience Really Matters

This is one of the most challenging parts of the day and one of the most important.

There are a lot of people, a lot of opinions, and usually not a lot of time.

So I step in and take the lead.

I’ll:

  • Call out names
  • Organize groups quickly
  • Keep things moving without feeling rushed

All while keeping the mood light and positive.

Because the goal isn’t just to get the photo…

It’s to make the process feel easy for you.

💃 From Ceremony to Reception: Reading the Room

Throughout the day, I’m constantly shifting how I work.

During your ceremony:

  • I stay quiet
  • I blend into the background
  • I capture moments without interrupting them

During your reception:

  • I match the energy
  • I move quickly
  • I anticipate moments before they happen

I’m always asking myself:
👉 What’s happening right now, and how do I capture it in the most meaningful way?

🎯 Why Some Couples Feel Amazing… and Others Feel Awkward

The difference usually isn’t the camera.

It’s the connection.

If you don’t feel comfortable with your photographer, it shows.

But when you do?

Everything changes.

You relax.
You trust the process.
You enjoy the moment.

And that’s when the best photos happen.

📖 After the Wedding: Telling Your Story

My job doesn’t end when your wedding day is over.

Because taking the photos is only part of it.

The real goal is to tell your story.

That’s why I:

  • Curate your images carefully
  • Design your album for you
  • Walk you through the final result

So you’re not left wondering what to do with hundreds (or thousands) of photos.

Instead, you get something tangible.
Something lasting.

Something you can hold, flip through, and pass down.

💡 What I Want You to Remember

If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this, it’s this:

👉 Your wedding photographer doesn’t just capture your day.
👉 They shape your experience of it.

So when you’re choosing someone, don’t just look at their photos.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I feel comfortable with them?
  • Do I trust them to guide me?
  • Can I see myself spending my entire wedding day with them?

Because when the day is over…

What you’ll remember isn’t just how it looked.
It’s how it felt.

And I’m there to make sure it feels just as good as it looks.
